Mission Statement
The mission of the Burke County Emergency Communications Center (BCECC) is to serve the community and local government agencies with effective emergency communications services. We will serve as a facilitator of communications for public safety agencies in Burke County. Burke Emergency Communications Center will maintain a high standard of quality service to the citizens of Burke County.
NCDOT (North Carolina Department of Transportation)
Travel information is currently disseminated to the public using venues such as Highway Advisory Radio, Dynamic Message Signs, and on other NCDOT services. The North Carolina 511 system is part of a nationwide effort to disseminate travel information to the public via another venue, the telephone. 511 in North Carolina was implemented in the summer of 2004.
Specialties: We are a Roadside Assistance Company who just won the Legendary ACE Buckle award for the top 1% in service excellence. 911 Auto Rescue specializes in Tire Changes, Lockouts, Jump-starts, fuel deliveries and battery services. The Rescue & Recovery Workers Registry documents participants in the rescue, recovery, investigation, cleanup, and relief efforts after 9/11 in New York City; Arlington, Virginia; and Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Registered individuals are eligible for free admission to the 9/11 Memorial Museum.
511 uses an automated voice response system, which means callers are guided through a menu with a series of requests. Callers can ask for specific areas, and the system will provide information about traffic incidents, closures and other important roadway conditions.
